First Allium case at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital

Dr Ananda Dhanasekaran took on his second Allium case, on January 2nd, which was also the first one at the new facilities at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. We are delighted to announce that it was a successful implantation. With a small ureteric stricture, the patient presented an ideal situation for the use of an Allium stent.

This case offered a training opportunity for Dr Yuko Smith of University Hospitals Birmingham, who was in attendance, to gain experience of the procedure. Throughout the case, the consultants were supported by the Clinical Product manager at LaproSurge, Asad Abid who has a wealth of experience with Allium.

There are lots of opportunities to learn with Allium. The Ureteric Stricture & Metal Stent Cadaveric Course in Newcastle is taking place on the 11th-12th March. We are looking forward to senior registrars having the chance to refine their operative skills with the help of Allium stents.

Successful Allium implant in Lincolnshire

Our team supported the implant of an Allium ureteric stent on Tuesday 15th October at the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust to replace a double-J stent.

It is great to see Dr Okwudili Muoka wanting to perform this procedure having attended the Ureteric Stricture & Metal Stent Cadaveric Course in Newcastle earlier this year. The stent is designed for easy insertion and positioning. It also allows for greater patient comfort and can stay in the patient for up to 3 years, limiting how many times they may have to go through the procedure in the future.

The metal stenting course will be taking place again in Newcastle on the 11th-12th March 2025. Please contact us to find more out about this course and how you can attend.

Ureteric Stricture & Metal Stenting Cadaveric Course

The Ureteric Stricture & Metal Stenting Cadaveric Course will once again be taking place in Newcastle next year. The course will be run by the Newcastle Surgical Training Centre on the 10th-11th March 2025.

The course is targeted at senior urology trainees and urology consultants. It is a great opportunity to practice via cadaveric dissection and refine your operative skills necessary for real-world procedures.

The course earlier this year in March was a success and has seen surgeons go on to utilise their learnings in clinics and ensure better patient outcomes. For more information on this course please contact us.
